    So why didn’t whoever just say “dream bridge”? Both shorter and clearer than “you need to go to sleep”.

      3 possible reasons in my mind:

      1. Whoever was on the other end might not be that far from panic themselves. So they phrased it badly in the short time they had.

      2. Some other mechanism than the Dream Bridge is at work even though it may operate on the same principle and the other person likes precise language.

      3. The communications link could only convey general impressions rather than precise language and “go to sleep” was therefore as detailed an instruction as could be conveyed.
