They’re so adorable together!
It’s not often you see a strip about romance that manages to be genuinely sweet instead of saccharine and nauseating (or else non-G-rated). But this strip right here is a textbook example of how to do it very, very right. Nice work, Pete.

Possibly, yes, though Berann has shown that he’s less hostile to Mike than we might have expected. My guess is that, in Crystal’s family and their social circle, it’s considered improper for unmarried men and women to be in or near each other’s sleeping quarters after dark, regardless of whether what they’re actually doing is at all improper or, as in this strip, entirely innocent. Should anybody find them there, the mere appearance of impropriety can still lead to scandal and disgrace. It sounds a little Downton Abbey-ish, I know, but in some social circles that’s pretty much how things work.
